Terms of Service

Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of VaultKeep, including the website at vaultkeep.name.ng, the browser extension, mobile apps, and related APIs (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle account and technical data.

The Service

VaultKeep is a zero-knowledge password manager. Clients encrypt vault data on your device before sync. We operate the servers that store ciphertext, account metadata, and related features such as organizations, passkeys, device approval, and optional products like SpamGuard.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. We will try to avoid breaking existing encrypted vaults when we do.

Accounts

• You must provide a valid email address and keep your login credentials secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account, including shared organization vaults you administer.
• You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country if higher.
• Do not share your master password or recovery kit. Anyone with those can unlock your vault on a client.

Your responsibilities and zero-knowledge limits

Because VaultKeep is designed so we cannot read your vault contents, we also cannot recover a forgotten master password without a recovery kit, passkey, or other unlock method you control.

• Keep a safe copy of your recovery kit if you create one.
• Understand that loss of all unlock methods can mean permanent loss of vault access.
• Only store content you have the right to store.
• Do not use the Service for unlawful activity, abuse, or attacks on others.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Probe, overload, or disrupt the Service or other users
• Attempt to bypass authentication, encryption, or access controls
• Reverse engineer the Service except where local law allows
• Resell or redistribute the Service without our written permission
• Upload malware or content that violates others’ rights
• Create accounts by automated means or for the purpose of abuse

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Organizations and sharing

If you use family or business features, you are responsible for who you invite and what they can access. Removing a member from a secret folder is intended to revoke cryptographic access over time as keys rotate. You should still treat shared secrets carefully.

Intellectual property

VaultKeep, its branding, software, and documentation are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you. You keep ownership of the vault content you encrypt and sync. You grant us a limited license to store and process that ciphertext solely to provide the Service.

Fees and future plans

The Service may be offered free of charge today. We may introduce paid plans later. If we do, we will describe pricing before charging you, and paid features will follow those plan terms. We will not charge your payment method without your agreement to a paid plan.

Third-party services

The Service depends on hosting, email delivery, and similar providers. Optional features may call third-party APIs (for example breach checks). Those providers have their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party websites or services you open through autofill or links in the apps.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, VaultKeep and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of vault access, data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) zero if you have not paid us.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your vault content, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we shut down the Service. After termination, provisions that should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits) continue to apply.

Changes

We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If a change is material, we may also notify you by email or in the product when practical.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise. Courts in Nigeria have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to those mandatory protections.
